Located on the southwest shoreline of Galveston Bay, Texas City is a deepwater port on the Gulf Coast and a petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing center. The population was 51,898 as of the 2020 census, and was estimated at 59,733 in 2025, making it the second-largest city in Galveston County, after League City.
